Thursday, March 12th - Today it snowed! ❄️
Yesterday’s hike started in the high 70s, and today we wake to fog covered grounds, the mountains surrounding us having vanished completely as the snow falls to the earth. How interesting this adventure is!

But the snow didn’t stay long. Around 2:00 the sun came out and the snow started to melt. This left us open to continue our planned hike. Although you can see the remnants of snow on the hood of Ole Blue as we drive.
Our travels today took us up some dirt roads that climbed high up into the mountains, Brown Mountain to be exact. The higher we climb the more our ears pop, but Blue maneuvers the dirt road craters and steep dirt trails with ease.

We got to our viewing spot in time to see the sunset, and the colors that filled the horizon were beautiful to behold.
The way the mountains fade as they stretch toward the horizon still steals my breath. Greens and browns soften into distant blues and purples, all crowned by a sweep of orange and pink brushed across the sky. It feels as though the Lord is delighting in His paintbrush tonight.

I’ll admit, the cold is settling in, but the beauty around us and the work before us keeps our spirits warm. Tonight we wait for the dark to set in before we can finalize all our tests.

As the sun slips away, the stars appear—scattering above us like a blanket of unspoken wishes. My phone can't do the sky justice, and the multitude of stars become more pronounced. If I were more of an astronomer, I could possibly point out the constellations surrounding us. But I am not, so my mind roams to Psalm 148:3 how the shining stars sing Your praise Lord, and by default the worship song "So Will I" fills my head.
If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I
If the wind goes where You send it so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence so will I
If the sum of all our praises still falls shy
Then we'll sing again a hundred billion times
