Today we drove out of Texas. Out of the state that holds the hearts of Joey & Lyndi. We carried a quiet anticipation as the miles rolled beneath us, half‑expecting a phone call or text that might shift our direction yet again. But the Lord has let us leave, we know to complete the instructions previously given. We know we’ll return — likely sooner rather than later — but even so, the leaving carries its own bittersweet ache.
Obedience to the Lord is not always the easy road. We don’t always understand why He asks us to go, or why He moves us when He does. And sometimes the anticipation of future promises can pull our eyes forward so strongly that we risk missing the sweetness of the blessings right in front of us.
But the sadness never lingers long. As we talked through the countless surprises the Lord poured out during our time in Texas, gratitude rose up and outweighed every heavy feeling. Time after time, He amazed us with provision — blessing upon blessing — His love showing up in ways we couldn’t have imagined.
And so, we move forward, confident in the next steps He’s set before us.
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” - Isaiah 30:21
As our wheels crossed the border into New Mexico, the land shifted almost immediately. The mountains rose before us like a slow‑unfolding revelation. At first, they were only a faint line against the horizon, a soft charcoal sketch brushed across the sky. But mile by mile they grew — taking shape, gaining depth, lifting themselves out of the earth as though the Lord were pulling back a curtain to reveal another masterpiece. Their ridges layered in brown hues, their shadows stretching long across the desert floor, they stood like ancient witnesses to His handiwork. There was a quiet majesty in them, the kind that makes you breathe a little deeper and remember how small you are and how big He is.
It’s truly incredible to witness how differently the Lord has shaped each region of the earth — each landscape its own testimony of His creativity and care. I never tire of watching it.
