Today held an unscheduled addition to our itinerary. During a stop into the lobby of the place we stayed, we discovered a photo on the lobby wall which caught our eye…Mile High Bridge. It looked so cool!
We had a couple extra hours between hotels today, so we decided to add it into our itinerary! How fun is it to have a schedule so flexible?!

The picture in the lobby didn’t prepare us for this place. The road up this mountain was steep and very curvy. Take your Dramamine on this one folks! The switchbacks were no joke!
But once at the top the view was spectacular! The bridge was a sight to behold anchored between the rock cliffs. The surrounding views were stunning!
It had snowed here the night before, so the cliff walk trails were sadly closed for us. And although the air was quite cold, the sun was shone bright enough to add some coloring to my nose & cheeks that will remain for a couple days.
Our whole group didn’t make it out on this journey. The bridge did sway in the breeze, and the elevation caused some overwhelming pressure. That combination was enough for a third of our team to seek comfort in Ole Blue. ❤️ Doesn’t he look great sitting down there in the sun?!

Quick side note….we had a gentleman stop us to ask questions about our custom-made metal box for our hitch set up, commending the build! Thank you Dave for your amazing skills!

After our bridge walk we enjoyed some amazing sandwiches in the parking lot. We are quite enjoying the built-in table this metal box provides! Yet another blessing!
I’d like to say we ended there, but no! There’s more!!!

We had one more stop in the NC area, and that’s in Pisgah National Forest. We were racing the sun as we drove down yet another winding road to a wooded spot and hiked down a well known trail.

Which ones, you ask? Well, I won’t say. But locals know it well, and we stayed late into the night filming.
We were certainly tired after this day - thank goodness we could finally sleep in tomorrow!
